DFS Sites Lobby in Florida

Rival DFS sites DraftKings and FanDuel are planning to join forces within the Fantasy Sports Trade Association and launch a lobbying effort to protect daily fantasy sport’s legal status in Florida. The move comes even though there is no effort underway to change fantasy sports status in the state.

In what could be considered an abundance of caution, Rival DFS sites DraftKings and FanDuel are planning to join forces within the Fantasy Sports Trade Association and lobby to protect daily fantasy sports in Florida.

There is no effort, however, challenging daily fantasy sports underway in the Florida Legislature.

But DFS websites have had an increasing presence in the state, with FanDuel having recently taken over the Zynga Sports 365 facility in Orlando and both sites have sponsorships in place with professional teams in the state.

“We continue to boost the FSTA’s resources in states with a large number of fantasy sports players to ensure that residents there can continue to fully play fantasy sports,” FSTA chairman Peter Schoenke said. “And certainly there’s an added benefit with both CBS and FanDuel and several more fantasy sports companies having operations in the state.”
