Disney Supported Florida Anti-Gambling Group

Disney Worldwide Services gave $250,000 to the Florida political group Voters in Charge last month. The group wants to place on the November 2018 ballot a proposal giving voters the right to allow casino gambling in the future. In April the Florida Supreme Court approved the ballot wording.

Last month Disney Worldwide Services Inc. contributed 0,000 to the Voters In Charge political committee in Florida. The group is seeking to place on the November 2018 ballot a proposed constitutional amendment giving voters the “exclusive right to decide whether to authorize casino gambling” in the state in the future.

In April the Florida Supreme Court approved the wording of the proposed constitutional amendment. Now Voters in Charge still must submit hundreds of thousands of verified petition signatures to elections officials to place the measure on the ballot.

The committee raised a total of $287,675 in April, with $250,000 coming from Disney Worldwide Services and $30,000 from the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association, according the state Division of Elections website.

The group spent $140,709, with $103,792 going to the firm National Voter Outreach Inc. for gathering petition signatures.
