Does Bet365 CEO Make Too Much Money?

Denise Coates, CEO of Bet365 and one of the wealthiest women in the U.K., last year paid herself a salary of £421 million and £48 million in dividends in the just-completed fiscal year.

She founded the company 20 years ago and for several years has been the highest paid executive in the country. It is calculated that last year she earned almost £1.2 million every day. Which is more than the CEOs of the top 100 U.K. companies combined and is likely the largest in U.K. history

The company has been criticized for Coates’s high salary in a period when Bet365 sales fell 8 percent and profits took a 74 percent dive. However, the company points out that during the pandemic it did not cut salaries or lay off employees and posted record revenues during the period.
