.5 million initial investment by Vivo
Donaco International is looking to draw more VIPs to its Star Vegas property in Poipet, Cambodia. To that end, it’s contracted with global marketing firm Vivo Tower, which is tasked with bringing in junket operators from Macau, Hong Kong and Malaysia, according to a filing to the Australian Stock Exchange.
Under the agreement, Vivo will pay Donaco a minimum US$1.5 million in the 2018 fiscal year, which will increase to US$3 million in 2019, plus “a revenue share which varies depending on the junket operators engaged by them,” said the casino operator in a statement reported by the Asia Gaming Brief.
Vivo Tower has already engaged Malaysian junket operator Da Kim Global Group to bring in VIP customers starting from July 1, Donaco reported.
“We are pleased to confirm the launch of a new era at Star Vegas, with a focus on increasing visitation from international players, in order to supplement the existing healthy Thai-facing business,” said Donaco Managing Director and CEO, Joey Lim.
Star Vegas enjoys a prime location on Cambodia’s border with Thailand. According to Donaco, 90 percent of its customers hail from Thailand, where casino gaming is illegal.
