Fred Done, founder, CEO and chairman of bookmaker Betfred, has named former Betfred executive Joanne Whittaker to take over his role as group chief executive. The 78-year-old Done will remain the company’s chairman.
Whittaker, 43, had been head of IT at Betfred’s Warrington base before founding childcare voucher provider Fidelity in 2005. Done helped finance the investment in return for a 25 percent share. By March 2019, Fidelity had turnover of more than £83 million and pre-tax profits of £1.7 million.
According to Games Magazine Brazil, Whittaker has also set up two further businesses backed by Done, and Done invited Whittaker to examine a number of businesses he is involved in.
Whittaker will assume the chief executive role April 6.
