Durango Casino & Resort last week staged a ceremony as construction workers topped off the 15-story, 216-foot tower with the final beam, symbolic tree, and concrete pour of the hotel. Leaders from Station Casinos and William A. Richardson Builders together with Clark County Commissioner Justin Jones, and several hundred construction workers were on-site today to sign the final beam and celebrate this milestone. The symbolism of a “topping tree” marks the completion of the skeleton of a building structure reaching its final height.
“Today is an exciting day in the 46-year history of Station Casinos as we top off the tower of Durango and usher in the next generation of our casino and resort properties,” said Scott Kreeger, president of Station Casinos. “We’d like to thank Bill Richardson of William A. Richardson Builders, his team and all of the hard-working construction teams bringing the project to life and we’d also like to thank our local officials for their steadfast leadership in getting this project off the ground and fostering remarkable growth in and around this site.”
William A. Richardson Builders and nearly 100 contractors, subcontractors, manufacturers, sales teams, supply houses, and trucking companies, employing 1,600 construction workers, are supporting this project. For 46 years, Station Casinos’ success has been its long-term strategic vision of growing with the valley, bringing the best-in-class in resort hotels, restaurants, and entertainment, and hiring and maintaining the top employees in the industry. The $750 million Durango Casino & Resort is the next generation Station Casinos Resort Hotel as the company continues to set out its long-term strategic vision in the Las Vegas gaming market.
Durango Casino & Resort is slated to open in October 2023. The new hotel and casino will feature 15 floors with over 200 hotel rooms, convention, and meeting spaces, a resort pool with cabanas, outdoor social areas, and free parking.
