Tipico, the Malta-based operator, faces stiff fines from the Dutch Gambling Authority. The fines were instituted after Tipico was accused of unlawfully offering online gaming.

Malta-based operator Tipico faces a fine of €531,250 (US$622,000) for unlawfully providing online gaming on tipico.com, according to Dutch Gambling Authority, Kansspelautoriteit.

A primary fine of €200,000 applied for this type of violation, along with additional fines for bonuses on offers and the number of games and bets offered; the overall use of the inactivity fee; for offering live betting; for not being able to verify the age of players, according to Gambling Insider.

Beginning October 1, the Netherlands permitted legal online games and gambling websites with a license from the KSA. The group received 28 applications by April.
