Dutch Regulator Asks Apple to Remove Gambling Apps

Apple has removed 55 apps for online casinos and betting from the App Store in the Netherlands following a request from the Dutch gaming authority.

Apple has responded to a request from Dutch gaming regulators and removed 55 online gaming apps from the App Store in the Netherlands.

Dutch law bans companies such as Unibet and Bwin from operating in the country’s market, including on Dutch smart phones, the gaming authority says.

The authority says 55 apps have been removed from sale and that has prevented at least 10,000 illegal downloads. The apps were not available via Google, broadcaster NOS said.
