Margaux Uson, the Philippines communications assistant secretary lambasted on social media for performing as a casino entertainer, has decided to quit show business, says her boss.
According to the Inquirer newspaper, Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said Uson asked permission to honor the contracts of her girl group, called the Mocha Girls. But government employees are not allowed to even enter casinos, much less perform in them, so “I think Mocha has also decided to stop performing,” Andanar said.
Uson was present during recent House debates but had to dodge reporters due to the backlash. She and the Mocha Girls performed at the Resorts World Casino in Manila’s Entertainment City.
The “leader of the sexy girls’ performance group,” was appointed to the communications office “due to her rabid support for President Rodrigo Duterte.”
According to a government memorandum cited in the news report, “The mere entry or presence of government officials and employees in a gambling casino shall be considered as conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service, unless the same was in the performance of official duties and functions.”
Clearly Mocha, described in the Inquirer as “a sex guru,” was not performing in an official capacity.
