EGT Exits Cambodia

Lawrence Ho’s Entertainment Gaming Asia has sold off the last of its machine gaming holdings in Cambodia, at the Dreamworld Club (l.) in a casino in the gambling enclave of Poipet on the border with Thailand. The move leaves the NASDAQ-listed company with two slot leases in the Philippines.

Entertainment Gaming Asia has pulled out of Cambodia, selling all of its remaining gaming assets to the owner of Dreamworld Club Poipet, a slot operation in an existing casino in the Thai border town.

The sale was valued at US$900,000, the listed company (Nasdaq: EGT) said in a release.

It included 278 machine gaming positions in Dreamworld Club, another 72 units held in storage in Cambodia and spare parts and accessories.

Dreamworld Club Poipet was the last of EGT’s machine leasing operations in Cambodia. The company announced back in July that it was selling all of its positions in NagaWorld, the country’s largest casino, located in the capital of Phnom Penh, for $2.5 million. In October, the company sold a 71-machine operation in Thansur Bokor Highland Resort for $250,000.

EGT also manufactured and distributed casino currency and other peripherals under the Dolphin brand but sold the business last May to Gaming Partners International.

The company still leases machine games to two venues in the Philippines.

EGT, which is majority held by a subsidiary of Lawrence Ho’s Melco International Development, posted a net loss of $744,000 in the third quarter.
