The Belle of Baton Rouge riverboat casino may be getting a makeover soon, according to the facility’s new General Manager Jim Rigot. He said new owners Eldorado Resorts are considering several options, including moving the casino to land or merging the multiple gambling floors into a single space. Rigot said the property isn’t keeping up with other regional casinos. “If you’re not constantly reinvesting in your product, you pay the price ultimately. I think that’s where we are,” he said.
An Eldorado Resorts team will visit the Baton Rouge property later this month, Rigot said, to review possible investment scenarios, then make recommendations to the company’s board. Last November, Eldorado Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Gary Carano told investors, based on an early analysis, it would be “highly unlikely” the company would invest in the Baton Rouge property, but instead would invest in its Lake Charles property.
