eSports Gamers Ready to Rumble in Vegas

A company called Ultimate Media Ventures is sponsoring a new series of monthly eSports tournaments at Las Vegas’ SLS Hotel and Casino. The “Battle on the Strip,” as it’s styled, aims to lure amateurs and professionals worldwide with some hefty prize pools.

Las Vegas is hosting a new monthly eSports tournament open to contestants from around the world.

“Battle on the Strip,” as it’s called, held its first live finals competition on Sunday at the SLS Hotel and Casino and will feature a new contest each month for both amateurs and professionals to sign up to compete.

The Sunday tournament pitted four finalists against each other in Dota 2 for a total of $25,000 in cash and prizes.

Ultimate Media Ventures CEO Jon Bukosky, whose company is sponsoring the tournaments, told Dot eSports, “There was nobody really doing stuff for the community as a whole.”

Going forward, online qualifiers will be powered through FACEIT, he said, and UMV plans to add coplay competitions featuring a $10,000 prize pool and LAN events. The games will be streamed on Twitch and via Maestro.

“There’s always going to be something for somebody,” Bukosky said.
