ESports Team Liquid Announces PokerStars Sponsorship

Team Liquid has announced that PokerStars will become a major sponsor of the eSports team. Team owner Victor Goosens is a former pro poker player.

ETeam Liquid owner Victor Goossens past as a professional poker player seems to have contributed to PokerStars becoming an official sponsor of the eSports team.

“I’m confident that my close ties with poker will allow us to provide the right value and conceive engaging projects that will create a lasting and worthwhile relationship for years to come,” Goosens said in a press release announcing the sponsorship. “Not only are we doing a regular sponsorship, some of our players will be playing poker on their streams, learning from some of the best.”

The partnership will bring several renowned poker pros to partner with some of Team Liquid’s most popular Hearthstone and StarCraft players, including Janne ‘Savjz’ Mikkonen, Jeffrey ‘SjoW’ Brusi and Dario ‘TLO’ Wünsch, the release said.

“ElkY, RaSZi, nanonoko (and maybe even Negreanu) will be showing some of our players the ropes, and you can watch and learn along with them,” the release said. “In particular, SjoW and Savjz will put their card game skills to the test as they sign up to play several EPT’s this year. We’ll make sure to bring you exciting video coverage so that you can follow them as they experience the ups and downs of a professional poker player.”

PokerStars joins HTC, Razer, Alienware, Nissan, Quest Gaming, and more as sponsors of the team.
