The European Commission recently released a report praising Gibraltar for providing safe and reliable online gaming and protecting minors.
Gibraltar’s minister of gaming, Albert Isola, acknowledged the praise, noting, “These principles reflect the existing regulations in Gibraltar for ensuring online gaming services are safe and reliable. For nearly two decades Gibraltar has helped set the standards for online gaming and we will continue to do so. It is pleasing to see among the Recommendations so much of what we already do, and that Gibraltar’s own proposal for national self-exclusion registers has been adopted by the Commission.”
The colony limits the number of operators to 30. Several of them are the largest online gaming providers in the industry.
The European Commission has recommended several practices for all online gaming operators; many of these practices are already in force in Gibraltar.
