Expansion Planned for ilani Casino in Washington State

The ilani Casino, located near La Center, Washington State, is about to begin a major expansion that will add rooms, parking and gaming space to the casino resort.

Plans call for the addition of a 14-story hotel, two restaurants and more gaming space. The expansion will also include a 2,700-space, six-story parking garage, which is set to open next month.

Construction is scheduled to begin Oct. 15. The first phase will add about 17,000 square feet to the casino’s floor space, said ilani President Kara Fox-LaRose in a press release. The project is expected to cost $30 million.

Casino officials say the expansion will create about 200 jobs and add 200 slot machines and additional table games to the casino floor. The casino project is expected to open in the summer, as complications form the COVID-19 pandemic delayed work. Officials had hoped to open the casino along with the parking facility.

Further plans include adding an Asian cuisine restaurant – to be complemented by an Asian table game area – and a second restaurant still in the planning stages. The second restaurant is expected to include a sports betting facility.

The hotel project is expected to break ground in the spring and will include 300 guest rooms and will also feature a swimming pool, spa and fitness center.

The general contractor for the expansion is Swinerton Builders, Fox-LaRose said, and The Friedmutter Group from Las Vegas partnered with ilani for the projects, including the hotel.

The architect for the hotel is Las Vegas-based Friedmutter Group, which designed all of ilani and the general contractor will be Portland-based Howard S. Wright Construction, officials said.
