Finnish Loss Limits Now Permanent

During the Covid-19 pandemic, when online gambling was the only option for gamblers for several months, Finland established a gambling loss limit. The government extended the limits several times, most recently through the end of June. Now comes word the limits will become permanent, according to iGamingBusiness.com.

Players may lose up to €500 (US$596) a day through online casino games with Veikkaus, a gaming monopoly (he prior limit was twice that amount). The monthly limit for online casinos is €2,000.

“The reduced maximum loss limit has been in use for a year,” Finland’s Minister of the Interior Maria Ohisalo said. “Loss limits are a good way to prevent gambling harm. The loss limit will also combat over-indebtedness.”
