FireKeepers Adding Hotel Tower

A new hotel tower will be built at FireKeepers Casino and Hotel in Battle Creek, Michigan. The Nottawaseppi Huron Band announced the project will add 200 rooms to the 243 currently available. In addition, the tribe said since 2010, casino revenue has generated $48.2 million for the local community and $143.7 million for the state of Michigan.

The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi announced it will build a new 200-room hotel tower at its FireKeepers Casino and Hotel in Battle Creek, Michigan. The current hotel offers 243 rooms. The tribe’s Chief Executive Officer Kathy George said, “The new hotel will just allow us to bring more visitors to the town so that they can go to all the great things here in Calhoun County when they’re not gaming.”

The tribe opened FireKeepers in 2010, and since then has shared more than $48.2 million in gaming revenue with the local community and $143.7 million with the state of Michigan. Compared to 2018, the local payment represented an increase of 1.63 percent and the payment to the state was 2.03 percent higher.

Tribal Chairperson Jamie Stuck previously said, “The leadership and tribal members of the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi are proud to continue a pattern of impactful contributions to the state of Michigan and our local community through the growth of our leading regional gaming destination at FireKeepers Casino Hotel.”

A date for the new hotel’s groundbreaking has not yet been announced.
