Battle Creek, Michigan can now be known for something other than the home of Kellogg’s Corn Flakes. FireKeepers Casino Hotel has made a name for itself as one of the top locations for poker tournaments, according to Indian Gaming.
Last month, the property broke the Mid-States Poker Tour record for Midwest events, attracting more than 2,400 entrants. The tour generated a prize pool of $2.34 million. Matthew Davis, a Michigan native, won his first MSPT title. In all, 252 places took home money.
Satellites began in mid-August and continued through October 14. The main event which contained three flights opened October 13 and ended October 16. Top poker players from around the nation helped make FireKeepers one of the leading poker rooms.
“A great partnership with MSPT, combined with the FireKeepers team members’ commitment to guest service, continues to draw record breaking attendance and prize pools,” said Kelley Bailey, FireKeepers Poker Manager. “Event after event, the team outdoes themselves, keeping players coming back for more, so much so, that we’re already excited for our next major events.”
