First Reno Hotel in Decades to Open in June

The Downtown Reno Courtyard by Marriott is the first major hotel construction underway in Reno in decades and anticipates a June opening of the non-smoking, non-gaming hotel. Its 135 rooms will average 250 square feet, while the hotel primarily caters to business travelers and those who aren’t interested in gaming.

Reno’s first new downtown hotel in decades will open for business this summer when the Downtown Reno Courtyard by Marriott opens its doors in June.

The hotel is being built along the Truckee River on East Second Street in Reno, and contains 80,000 square feet and 135 rooms within its four floors.

Downtown Courtyard General Manager Amy Preston says the hotel won’t be affiliated with any casinos, and will be smoke-free. Many business travelers prefer non-smoking hotels that aren’t part of a casino operation, and the new Marriott will cater to those travelers.

The 135 hotel rooms will average about 250 square feet in size and provide a media hub, high-speed Internet access, and a 49-inche flat-screen television for visitors.

Among hotel amenities will be a bistro, full bar, outdoor pool, hot tub, and a gym. Parking is available next door in the 900-spot Park Center Tower.

Courtyard expects to hire about 30 new workers to staff the hotel.
