First Washington Tribe Signs Compact Amendment

The Cowlitz Tribe has become the first Washington gaming tribe to amend its gaming compact. It still requires several steps to being adopted, including signing by the governor, Jay Inslee.

The progress in amending the compact was confirmed by the Washington State Gambling Commission. The tribe operates the ilani Casino Resort in Ridgefield. The amendment requires the tribe to provide more funding for the community, including increased charitable donations. It will also have to provide funding to fight and treat problem gambling.

The amended compact allows the tribe to operate 125 tables and allows one quarter of those to offer up to $1,000 wagers and a few tables offering $5,000 to screened VIPs.
