FLC Group to Expand into Gaming

Vietnamese real estate developer FLC Group may expand into the gaming industry. Chairman Trinh Van Quyet recently pitched Japanese investors on his ambitious plan for a casino resort in Quang Ninh Province.

Ho Chi Minh-listed real estate developer FLC Group is looking to develop a casino resort in Quang Ninh Province, according to the Nikkei Asian Review.

Chairman Trinh Van Quyet recently traveled to Tokyo hoping to interest Japanese investors in his plan, which also includes an aviation business. Quyet said FLC has already purchased a 20-square-kilometer (5,000 acre) site for the project.

Quang Ninh Province in located in northern Vietnam, site of the Ha Long Bay World Heritage site is found. “Thanks to its long coast line, Vietnam’s tourism industry has huge potential,” Trinh said. “We want to have direct flights from overseas to areas where we have resort facilities.”

His airline is set to launch in 2022 and has already discussed aircraft with Airbus and Boeing, reported CalvinAyre.com.

A report from the World Tourism & Travel Council shows that Vietnam’s gross domestic product could grow nearly 90 percent to $34.6 billion by 2027. And the country is already one of Southeast Asia’s leading tourist destinations. According to government data, tourist arrivals in Vietnam rose 30 percent to 8.47 million from January to August.
