The Florida Lottery has renewed its contract with Scientific Games for scratch-off games, a deal that could provide up to $135 million for education through 2027. The new contract, with extension options for up to seven more years, includes an integrated portfolio of unique game content including expanded digital promotions and increased efficiencies to ensure products are delivered to retailers as quickly as possible. Additionally, Scientific Games will be fully integrated into the Florida Lottery’s Play Responsibly initiatives and training aimed at building responsible gaming best practices into all aspects of operations.
Governor Ron DeSantis stated, “I’m proud to announce that the Florida Lottery will be generating at least an additional $18 million to the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund each year as a result of their new scratch-off contract. The Florida Lottery has been a dependable contributor to education in our state, transferring $1.9 billion last fiscal year and over $1 billion each of the last 17 years. I look forward to working with our partners in the legislature to ensure we continue to maximize revenues to enhance education.”
Florida Lottery Secretary Jim Poppell added, “Thanks to the leadership of Governor DeSantis, and the hard work of our lottery team, the new contract is expected to generate $135 million for education in Florida. We set out to sign a contract that allows us to continue offering the best games possible at a cost-savings to the state. In collaboration with Scientific Games, the lottery will continue to offer best-in-class lottery products, emphasize our responsible gaming initiatives, and maximize revenues in support of Governor DeSantis’ bold vision for education in our state.”
“We are pleased the Florida Lottery chose Scientific Games for our unique ability to grow profits to benefit so many students in the state of Florida,” said Scientific Games Vice President of Instant Products John Schulz. “We will continue to provide our world class services to expertly manage the full lifecycle of the Lottery’s instant games, as well as the great licensed brands that Florida players love.”
