A bill passed by the Florida legislature and awaiting Governor Rick Scott’s signature would require Florida Lottery tickets and television, radio and internet ads to include one of six warnings on gambling addiction. If Scott signs the bill it would take effect in January.

Passed on the final day of the session, the bill says lottery tickets would have to include the warnings gambling causes financial problems and that the odds of winning are very low.

The Florida Lottery sells tickets ranging in price from $1 to $25 at more than 13,000 locations statewide.
