Former Casino Executive to Head Allegiant’s Hotels

An executive who has run some of the top performing casinos on the Las Vegas strip has been hired by Allegiant Air to oversee its venture into resort development. Micah Richins has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer for Sunseeker Resorts, the new venture.

Longtime MGM Resorts executive Micah Richins, who has operated the MGM Grand, New York-New York and the Luxor, all in Las Vegas, has been hired by Allegiant Air to oversee the budget airline’s pivot into hospitality.

He has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer for Sunseeker Resorts, the new venture created by Allegiant, whose president, formerly MGM Grand Resorts CEO John Redmond, said “Micah is a seasoned leader who brings a unique depth of knowledge across the full spectrum of the hospitality industry, from customer experience and entertainment development to revenue and organizational leadership.”

The first Sunseeker Resort, a $600 million beachfront resort is planned for Port Charlotte, Florida beginning this fall. It will have a hotel, nine condominium towners and a marina on 22 acres.
