Former Convention Head Named to PA Gaming Board

The former president and chief executive officer of the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority, Ahmeenah Young, has been named to the state Gaming Control Board.

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf has appointed the former chief of the state’s convention authority to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. Ahmeenah Young, who was president and CEO of the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority in Philadelphia until 2013, will replace Delaware County Republican David Woods, whose three-year term is expiring.

In Philadelphia, Young oversaw a $35 million budget and presided over the state-funded $786 million expansion of the convention center, which was the largest public construction project in Pennsylvania’s history.

“Ahmeenah’s business acumen, vast experience and commitment to serving her community make her a natural fit for the Gaming Control Board,” Wolf said in a statement.
