Eight months after becoming president and CEO of Foxwoods Resort Casino, John James, 59, has resigned. Foxwoods said James “left his position to spend more time with his family and focus on his overall health and wellness in a time that it is critically important for all of us to do.”

Senior Vice President of Resort Operations Jason Guyot will act as interim CEO as the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe searches for a permanent CEO.

James took the helm in August 2019, succeeding Felix Rappaport, who unexpectedly died of a heart attack in June 2018.

Foxwoods closed March 17 after the Covid-19 outbreak and has furloughed most of its 5,000 employees. According to a statement, “We are currently focused on a strategic reopening plan which will take into consideration safe and social distancing guidelines. We will share updates as our plans are solidified.”
