Foxwoods Hires New General Counsel

Jody Cummings (l.) has been named general counsel for Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut. He was deputy solicitor and senior counselor for Indians affairs for three years with the U.S. Department of the Interior.

Foxwoods Hires New General Counsel

Foxwoods Resort Casino has hired a new general counsel, Jody Cummings, formerly of Steptoe & Johnson. Cummings is the fourth general counsel hired by Foxwoods in four years.

Cummings will run the Office of Legal Counsel for the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut, operators of the second largest casino in the United States.

Before joining Steptoe, where he specialized in American Indian law, natural resources and the environment, Cummings was deputy solicitor and senior counselor for Indian affairs at the Department of the Interior.

Currently Foxwoods, which employs about 5,000, has suspended operations due to the coronavirus pandemic.
