Foxwoods Casino has reopened its largest entertainment venue, the Grand Theater, at 25 percent capacity. The theater has been closed since March and wasn’t included when the casino reopened in May.
Connecticut has entered phase three of Governor Ned Lamont’s reopening, which in part accounts for the theater reopening. Outdoor venues may reopen with 50 percent capacity. However, indoor venues are limited to 25 percent.
Monique Sebastian, vice president of entertainment and marketing for Foxwoods told the Hartford Courant: “We have been intricately planning how to safely resume live, indoor entertainment for over four months, which resulted in a thoughtful and slow process to ensure we rebuilt the right infrastructure in our theaters.”
The Grand Theater will be employing rigorous safety protocols, including increased ventilation and hygiene, plus social distancing and timed entry of patrons. Masks for all are required.
Comedian Bob Marley was the first show on October 16 and 17.
Upcoming shows include Queen tribute band Almost Queen, Vic DiBitetto, Anthony Rodia, Jerry Seinfeld, Rob Schneider and Bob Marley.
