Foxwoods Resort Casino recently announced that AEG Live of Los Angeles will book musical performances at its Connecticut casino and other locations where Foxwoods may do business. Scott Butera, president and chief executive officer, said the agreement will enhance Foxwoods’ competitive edge as the gambling industry becomes more competitive in the Northeast. He noted New York is about to add resort casinos and Massachusetts will open three resort casinos and a slots parlor, unless voters repeal the 2011 law allowing casinos in the November election.
The nation’s second largest concert promoter, AEG Live manages concert tours for Alicia Keys, Bruno Mars, Bon Jovi, Carrie Underwood, Cher, Enrique Iglesias, J Cole, Jennifer Lopez, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Kenny Chesney, Leonard Cohen, Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift, the Who, Trey Songz and Juanes. It also produces Coachella and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival as well as comedy tours including Flight of the Conchords, Portlandia, the Kids In the Hall, Ricky Gervais, Jim Jefferies and Bo Burnham. In addition to concert touring and festivals, the company also has broadcast, merchandise and special events divisions.
Butera stated, “Bringing world class entertainers to Foxwoods’ two magnificent theaters is an important part of setting us apart from other gaming and resort destinations. Having AEG Live as a partner will provide recognition of the Foxwoods brand, the high quality of our entertainment venues and a commitment to provide once in a lifetime, luxurious experience for our guests.”
AEG Live’s fee was not disclosed.
