France Permits Parisian ‘Clubs de Jeux’

Gérard Collomb (l.), France’s Minister of the Interior, has signed a decree detailing conditions under which gaming clubs, or “clubs de jeux,” may operate in Paris.

End to ban on New Year’s Eve

The French Minister of the Interior has signed legislation that will allow gaming clubs in Paris. According to the decree approved by Gérard Collomb, a ban on “clubs de jeux” will end on December 31, 2017, and licenses will be effective January 1, 2018. For a three-year trial period, commercial companies may operate gaming clubs in the capital city.

There is presently just one legal gaming operation in Paris, Clichy-Montmartre. Applications for gaming club licenses must be filed by September 1.

Games allowed in the new clubs include stud poker; punto banco; Hold ‘em poker casino; Ultimate poker; Three card poker; Poker 21; multicolored billiards; Railway baccarat; two-bank baccarat limited-bank; two-bank open-bank baccarat; Mahjong; and other forms of poker, according to Yogonet.com.
