French Online Gambling Revenue Falls in 2013

France is reporting that its online gambling revenue fell $27 million in 2013, but that’s still better than the $65 million drop seen in 2012.

Online gambling revenue continues to fall in France.

ARJEL, France’s iGaming regulator, released figures showing that the country’s online gambling sector recorded operating losses of $27 million in 2013.

The figures show that four years of regulation, France’s iGaming sector continues to struggle.

In his foreword, ARJEL president Charles Coppolani said that “international cooperation will be one of my priorities.”

But Coppolani also said that only France’s Parliament can change regulations concerning taxes and a sharing of player pools within the European Union.

Online betting operators lost $18 million in 2013 and horseracing sites lost $20 million. Many of the losses were blamed on advertising costs.
