From Isle to Horseshoe, Louisiana Casino Reopens

In Louisiana, Caesars Entertainment’s new land-based Horseshoe Casino Lake Charles attracted thousands of visitors to its December 12 opening, including Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale, who placed a $1 million wager on the Houston Cougars to win the NCAA basketball championship.

The facility replaces the former Isle of Capri Lake Charles, which was forced to close due to the Covid-19 pandemic and Hurricane Laura in 2020.

Dan Real, regional president at Caesars Entertainment, said, “To live and see your place of work literally sail away, and have to go through Covid, for us to be able to offer the jobs back, as I leave this building tonight that is what I will reflect on the most. Literally, what you see in this building is brand new, from the ground up, our hotel rooms, everything is brand new. It was quite the undertaking.”

The new resort offers nearly 1,000 slot machines, 82 tables, live poker, sportsbook and a new 253-room hotel.
