FTN Network Adds NBA Data to Upgrade Betting, DFS Experiences

FTN Network delivers customizable and highly detailed sports data for media companies, bettors, fantasy sports, and DFS. The company recently announced the addition of NBA data to its portfolio for the 2024-25 season, expanding its coverage and reach. FTN Network has products for operators who want the data alongside a subscription service for individuals who want to make informed betting or fantasy decisions.

FTN plans to track 19 data points for NBA games that will enhance bettor and DFS player experiences. The data points included are possession type, play type, shot type, defensive alignment, after time-out situations, short clock situations, ball screen defensive coverages, screen locations, screen participants, off-ball action coverages, post defense, post play participants, deflections, potential assists, shot contest types, shot contest hands, contests by player, rebound locations, and rebound contests.

Frank Brank, FTN’s chief data officer, told GGB: “Our goal at FTN is to enhance the experience and drive innovation for bettors, fantasy players, media members, and basketball fans. Bringing deeper analysis to the space is helping revolutionize the way fans consume, analyze, and engage with the NBA.

“With human-led tracking and charting of data, we can offer insights that may go unnoticed by other services. Users will be able to put themselves into the shoes of a defensive scout, including how teams defend against specific offensive formations, as well as offensive efficiency metrics that highlight the effectiveness of these defensive strategies.”

The data emphasizes the defensive side of the ball, in part thanks to the past four league MVP winners being centers like Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid.

The company’s addition of NBA data arrives on the heels of an impressive growth spurt. The first three quarters of 2024 saw 16 percent subscription growth compared to the same period in 2023. Historically, FTN’s growth has been highest in the summer months of July to September as anticipation for football mounts. During that period in 2024, FTN’s subscriptions grew 22 percent compared to summer 2023. FTN Data—the product geared toward betting operators and media companies—saw a massive 211 percent growth over the same period in 2023.

Now, FTN’s NBA data offering stands to further cement the company’s position as a top choice for anyone in search of robust and actionable data.

“The launch of our NBA data for the upcoming season further establishes FTN as the one-stop shop for all things fantasy, betting, and fan engagement,” said Perry Gershon, chief executive officer at FTN. “It allows users to go beyond the box score in this new era of the game, making it a truly innovative tool in the sports data industry.”
