Continuing travel restrictions caused by Covid-19 has prompted Reed Exhibitions and the American Gaming Association (AGA) to cancel this year’s in-person edition of the Global Gaming Expo (G2E) Asia. The trade show, originally scheduled for May 25-27 in Macau, was later pushed back to November 9-11.
The next exhibition will be held August 30-September 1, 2022 at the Venetian Macao in Macau’s Cotai district.
“In light of the ongoing Covid-19 disruption and continued travel restrictions across Asia Pacific, G2E Asia has shifted its focus to 2022 to ensure we meet the show’s high expectations, which we share with our valued exhibitors and attendees,” said Vera Ng, project director for Reed Exhibitions in an email to GGRAsia.
Prior to the global pandemic, the casino industry trade fair and conference had been held annually in Macau since 2007. The last in-person show was in 2019.
Currently, holders of foreign passports who are not also Macau ID holders are barred from entering Macau as a Covid-19 countermeasure. The latest postponement means there will be a gap of three years between G2E Asia’s in-person shows.
