New Jersey-based GameAccount Network Chief Executive Officer Dermot Smurfit recently was named runner-up in the International category the 2014 EY Entrepreneur of the Year awards, which recognize the achievements of Irish entrepreneurs based around the world.

Dermot joined GameAccount in 2002 and has overseen its growth into one of the United Kingdom’s fastest-growing tech companies.

Smurfit said, “A little less than 12 months ago GameAccount Network was one of only a handful of companies permitted to launch on Day One in New Jersey’s then newly-regulated internet gaming market. What was a superb example of innovation, ingenuity, expertise, commitment and teamwork, set the tone for what has turned out to be a transformational year for the company on so many levels.”

He added, “To be shortlisted alongside such an elite group of business leaders and then to finish runner-up, is a further honor not just for myself but for the entire GameAccount Network team working out of our U.K., Italian and U.S. offices. There’s no doubt that we can look forward to the challenges and the opportunities that lie ahead with a large measure of confidence and excitement.”
