Gaming enthusiasts are expected to converge on California’s Coachella Valley August 14-15 for Gameacon, called the “Comic Con for gamers.”

At the convention, gamers can try new releases and meet the voices behind their favorite characters. I will be held at Agua Caliente Resort Casino Spa in Rancho Mirage.

Founded in 2014 by brothers Ben and Ari, Gameacon is a showcase for game creators and a wonderland for fans, with a lineup that includes cosplay, panels, esports tournaments, a “virtual reality village” and multiple vendors offering memorabilia and gaming supplies. Pokemon actress Veronica Taylor will be on hand to conduct a cartoon workshop.

Attendees should “definitely check out some of the indie games that are available to play and even enter or watch a tournament,” Ben Fox told Palm Springs Life. The tournaments have cash prizes of up to $1,000 and include games such as Street Fighter or Super Smash Brothers.

Masks will be handed out and hand sanitizer stations will be located throughout the venue. The casino will also provide a variety of dining options through its in-house food court, which will be open to any guests at the event.
