GameCo Inc. announced today it will be developing three new casino games for its skill-based video game gambling machines (VGM) based on the iconic science fiction film Terminator 2: Judgment Day—known as “T2” to diehard fans—under license from Studiocanal S.A.S.
GameCo’s proprietary VGM is an arcade-style cabinet featuring a single-player, 45-90-second video game, adapted from top console, PC and mobile games. The first game is planned as a first-person action game where players will take the role of a reprogrammed T-800 with a mission to aid the human resistance by exterminating opposing Terminators. The deal was brokered by Creative Licensing and is expected to make its debut in casinos in early 2017.
“It’s exciting to introduce our celebrated film titles to fans and casino players in an engaging and interactive format,” said Rand Marlis, president and CEO of Creative Licensing. “GameCo’s VGM brings films to life in an updated arcade format, whereby players have fun with a chance of winning big money.”
GameCo recently launched at all three Caesars Entertainment properties in Atlantic City and at the Tropicana Atlantic City, making it the first skill-based gaming company in the world to debut its product on casino floors. GameCo is currently executing a major nationwide rollout, with plans to be operational in most major U.S. gambling jurisdictions by the end of 2017.
“T2 is a world-famous classic film known for action, visual effects and memorable characters, so it’s a great fit for the fast-paced experience we want to bring to casinos across the globe,” said Rich Maryyanek, head of global business development for GameCo. “We are excited to be working with Studiocanal and CLC to bring the Terminator 2 brand to our video game gambling machines.”
GameCo’s VGMs offer an innovative new way to adapt popular licensed properties to the casino environment beyond the format of legacy slot machines.
