GameCo Signs Star Trek Licensing Deal

GameCo has signed an agreement to license to use the iconic Star Trek television franchise to create new games for its Video Game Gambling Machines.

GameCo, Inc., the startup supplier that introduced skill gaming to the industry in New Jersey last fall with its Video Game Gambling Machines (VGMs), has signed a licensing deal with CBS Consumer Products under which the company will produce games for the VGM based on the iconic Star Trek television series.

The deal gives GameCo access to the entire Star Trek television series including the original and all the sequels—The Next Generation, Voyager, Enterprise, Discovery and Deep Space Nine. The latter will be the first to be released in fall of this year, when the company releases the Star Trek Deep Space Nine Adventure on the VGM.

According to the company, the game will enable players to “take lead of the USS Defiant and battle their way to victory in immersive ship-to-ship combat.”

The game will feature highly polished 3D models of the iconic spacecraft that will attract fans of both Star Trek and the space combat genre alike. The deal was brokered by Richmond Management Group.

In addition to the six TV series, the Star Trek franchise extends to 13 movies with three separate casts, and more than 700 hours of content available across several media and online platforms.

“This fan-favorite franchise has been entertaining people across the globe, and is established as one of the most iconic and popular brands ever,” said Rich Maryyanek, head of global business development for GameCo. “We are excited to work with CBS Consumer Products to bring a space battle action game to casino floors that highlights the entertainment value Star Trek is known for.”

GameCo will release Star Trek Deep Space Nine Adventure in fall of 2017, according to the company.

GameCo, which released initial VGM game Danger Arena at Caesars and properties and the Tropicana in Atlantic City last fall, plans t release 10 or more new VGM titles in 2017, including games currently in development under license from major developers and entertainment IP companies such as Paramount’s Mission Impossible, Paranormal and Ferris Bueller as well as Terminator 2: Judgment Day from StudioCanal S.A.S.

GameCo’s proprietary video game gambling platform was recently approved by Gaming Laboratories International (GLI), the industry’s leading testing and compliance certification agency, under the GLI-11 standard.
