Gamesys Prepares for New Jersey with Social Poker App

Gamesys, which operates Virgincasino.com in New Jersey, will release a social-poker app as it prepares to go live with online poker in the state. A free version of its Virgin Poker game is available on Facebook.

Gamesys, which is partnered with the Tropicana Casino & Resort in Atlantic City to offer online gaming, is readying to launch poker in New Jersey with a free version of its poker game on Facebook.

The company operates under the Virgin brand at virgincasino.com in New Jersey.

The company has announced the debut of its play for free version of the newly developed Virgin Poker product on Facebook. The social poker app features “cash platform,” the game expected to be used when real-money poker is launched in New Jersey. The company says more than 10,000 players are already using the app.

“Expanding the Virgin brand is an exciting opportunity and gives us real leverage on a global level, including the US market,” said Paul Troy, global director of brands for Gamesys in a press release. “Gamesys sees itself as an entertainment business and Virgin can also help achieve that.”

The social poker app will feature tournaments, ring games followed by their own version of the popular “fast-fold” platform. Players wanting to become familiar with the game face can watch and learn from an interactive video series hosted by “Professor Jess” as she tutors players through the game basics and idiosyncrasy of the poker app, the company said.
