Gaming Regulators To Meet In Philadelphia

The historic city of Philadelphia will host the 2014 annual conference of the International Association of Gaming Regulators, October 27-29. Members from gaming jurisdictions worldwide will discuss the challenges of improving the effectiveness and efficiency of gambling oversight.

The International Association of Gaming Regulators will hold its 2014 annual conference on October 27-29 in Philadelphia. The conference will focus on the challenges regulators face in improving the effectiveness and efficiency of gambling oversight. IAGR members representing gaming jurisdictions in North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, Central America, the Caribbean and South America will be in attendance, along with industry representatives.

IAGR President Peet Meng LAU, board member of Singapore’s Casino Regulatory Authority, said, “IAGR is committed to bringing regulators around the world to come together to discuss the latest developments in our regulatory work so that we can help each other become more effective. This year’s conference will be held in the historic city of Philadelphia, at a time when there is rapid development in the regulatory framework for online gambling in the United States. This will be an exciting and meaningful conference for all our members to attend, as we chart the future directions for gambling regulation around the world.”

Specifically, session topics will address law and regulation; problem gambling; money laundering; testing and audit compliance; probity and investigations; social gaming and virtual currency; regulatory issues around the world; and internet gaming.

IAGR Trustee Atle Hamar, director general of the Norwegian Gaming and Foundation Authority, said, “Since IAGR became an independent organization in 2010, this conference has been the most important meeting and networking arena for regulators. International keynote speakers and panelists will give the program the best quality.”

Added Susan Hensel, immediate past president of  IAGR and director of licensing for the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, “This is the first time the conference will be held in Pennsylvania and we are looking forward to informative sessions and productive networking opportunities against a backdrop that uniquely blends history, culture and cosmopolitan attractions as only Philadelphia can offer.”

IAGR members can take advantage of an Early Bird registration fee of $750 by September 19, 2014; t he cost will be $900 after that. The fee for non-IAGR members and general industry attendees will be 1,250.  

The International Association of Gaming Advisors Annual Conference will be held at the same time as the IAGR, at the same venue, the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown.
