South African-based Gauselmann Group has named Brian Meacher as managing director of Merkur Gaming Africa. Meacher, 56, brings more than 30 years of experience in the gaming industry and the African market to his new position, in which he will continue to consolidate the Gauselmann Group’s market position and develop new sales prospects.
Previously Meacher served as business manager at Africa’s largest tourism, leisure and gaming group for 17 years, and most recently was responsible for business development and operations at a South African casino chain.
Jürgen Stühmeyer, sales director on the board of directors of the Gauselmann Group said, “We have been able to gain an industry expert in Brian Meacher who will support us in best making use of our opportunities and potential. As a competent and accomplished local contact, he will strengthen existing customer relations as well being responsible for developing new, potential markets”.
The Gauselmann Group has been active for several years in South Africa through a distribution partner, and plans to expand this commitment by establishing Merkur Gaming Africa as an autonomous sales company. Under Meacher’s leadership, the licensing process for South Africa will be streamlined, for both casinos and pubs and bars.
