The head of Genting Singapore says the operator is seeking to broaden the base of customers for its Resorts World Sentosa property in Singapore, to include more “casual” gamers.

Genting Seeks to Broaden Singapore Customer Base

The top executive of Genting Singapore Ltd. has outlined a plan for the operator to “broaden its customer base” at its Resorts World Sentosa property, one of two casino resorts on the island.

At the company’s April general meeting—the minutes for which were released last week—Genting Singapore CEO Tan Hee Teck said the company is seeking to draw more of “those who engage in casual play for entertainment,” as gaming will “continue to be an important revenue source” for the group. “Over the next two to three years, Resorts World Sentosa (will) transform the resort to cater to such customers,” he said, according to GGRAsia.

Tan also cited a survey conducted by the Singapore Tourism Board which predicted that the next wave of tourism will include “premium” visitors with more money to spend.

“Thus, Resorts World Sentosa will need to focus on this segment, and develop the facilities, restaurants and hotel rooms to cater to those people,” Tan said.

Tan said changes to address the expected change in demographics will be part of a SGD4.5 billion (US$3.3 billion) expansion of the resort.
