First run through April 2019
Genting Cruise Lines will launch casino cruises in its home market of Malaysia starting in November. The SuperStar Gemini, a member of Genting’s Star Cruises fleet, will operate on Malaysian waters for six months from November 5 to April 28, 2019.
Inside Asian Gaming reported that the Gemini will be based in Port Klang, Penang and Langkawi in Malaysia and Phuket in Thailand and focus on destinations around the Straits of Malacca.
“Genting Cruise Lines has a long history in this part of Southeast Asia and we are excited to be making Malaysia SuperStar Gemini’s new home in November 2018 to carry on the legacy of SuperStar Libra which recently retired from active duty from the Star Cruises fleet,” said Genting Cruise Lines President Kent Zhu. “As a home-grown cruise company with deep roots in the region, Genting Cruise Lines continues to be committed in promoting the growth of the cruise industry in Asia and we are looking forward to strengthening our relationships with the countries and destinations that will be part of our exciting new itineraries.”
Star Cruises will introduce a number of new round-trip voyages through the region, taking in various stops in Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore and including two-night, three-night and four-night journeys, IAG reported.
