Germans Push Back at Gaming Hall Measure

The western German state of Rheinland-Pfalz is getting pushback from 2,000 citizens who have signed a petition opposing an amendment that would force existing gaming halls within 500 meters of a school or other gaming hall to close.

Critics say the amendment—which is part of the Gaming Act— would force more than half of the gaming halls out of busines. New halls already have these restrictions.

The proposal is also strongly opposed by state and national slot machine associations.
