Get Ready for Sports Betting & Esports

The focus on sports betting at last week’s G2E was a reflection of the hunger for knowledge about the subject. At the UNLV Gaming & Hospitality Education Series on October 25, the top experts in the field will offer their thoughts and guidance. And there’s a similar esports panel to boot.

Get Ready for Sports Betting & Esports

The legalization of sports betting in the U.S. has caught some operators short. The knowledge and understanding of the subject is lacking in many organizations, which was reflected in the packed sports betting sessions at last week’s G2E.

At the UNLV Gaming & Hospitality Education Series on October 25, at UNLV’s Stan Fulton Building, the education will be stepped up a notch as the most knowledgeable and experienced executives sit in to offer their insight. Moderated by John English, a partner with Global Market Advisors with a long history in sports wagering, other speakers include former Nevada Senator and Gaming Control Board Chairman Mark Lipparelli, who helped to regulate the first mobile sports betting in the U.S.; William Hill US CEO Joe Asher, whose company has reached multiple operating agreements for U.S. sports books; USBookmaking President & CEO Vic Salerno, who debuted the first mobile sports betting in Nevada; Lee Richardson, the founder and CEO of Gaming Economics, with extensive sports betting experience in Europe; and Matt Davey, the president and CEO of Scientific Games Digital, who with NYX Gaming developed the Open Bet platform, which streamlines sports betting information.

Each will provide in-person attendees and webcast viewers with personal responses to their questions in the highly interactive format that is unique to the UNLV Gaming & Hospitality Education Series.

Also featured on October 25 will be a gather of esports experts who will drill down into the challenges and opportunities available to gaming companies interested in expanding their offerings to millennials. Moderated by Robert Rippee, the director of the Esports Lab at the UNLV International Gaming Institute, the panel consists of Alex Igelman, CEO of Millennial Esports, whose company built and operate the first Las Vegas esports arena; Drew Brunson, the vice president of esports for Caesars Entertainment, who will explain his company’s esports strategy; Rahul Sood, the CEO of Unikrn, who specializes in esports wagering, and Ben Fox, a partner with Gameacon, which produces esports events for casinos.

Esports has tremendous potential for the gaming industry, whether it’s hosting esports tournaments, establishing esports lounges or accepting wagers on esports events.
