GGB PODCAST: Derek Webb, Table Game Inventor; Founder, the Campaign for Fairer Gambling

This week we sit down with Derek Webb (l.), a table game inventor and longtime industry figure, to talk about his newest mission with the Campaign for Fairer Gambling.

Derek Webb is a former poker player who used that knowledge to invent 3 Card Poker, one of the staples of any casino floor today. He sold that game and another, 21+3, in the late ‘90s and early 2000s amid many legal challenges. When he returned to the industry as the founder of the Campaign for Fairer Gambling, he shook up the U.K. gaming industry by leading the successful charge to reduce the maximum bet on gaming machines in the bookmaking shops from ₤100 to ₤2. Now he’s set his sights on the illegal—and legal—online gaming sites that he claims are damaging online players and the world’s economy. He spoke with GGB Publisher Roger Gros in Los Angeles in Jan.
