GIG Looks to German Sports Betting Market With Nordbet Acquisition

Gaming Innovation Group says it is looking to expand into Germany following the purchase of sports betting company Nordbet. The $625,000 deal will allow the group to take over Nordbet’s sports-betting license in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein.

Gaming Innovation Group will use a $625,000 takeover of inactive company Nordbet to move into the German market and assume Nordbet’s sports-betting license in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein.

The company said in a press release that the license is valid until February 2019 and will enable it to integrate with the larger payment providers, making its sports and casino offering more available to German users.

“We have high ambitions for our sports betting offering,” said Robin Reed, GIG’s chief executive. “These are being accelerated by the launch of three new B2B products for sports betting in H1 2018. Combining these sports betting services with preferred payment providers, makes GIG’s sports offering in Germany very competitive ahead of the FIFA World Cup in June 2018.”
