Leading gaming testing company Gaming Laboratories International announced that it has successfully completed a World Lottery Association Security Controls (WLA-SCS) and ISO 27001 Information Security Management Certification audit for the California Lottery.
The audit and certification were conducted by GLI’s Professional Services Division. With the successful audit and certification, the California Lottery becomes the only lottery in the United States to hold the WLA-Security Control Standard (WLA-SCS) and ISO 27001 Certifications.
“We were very pleased the California Lottery chose GLI and our Professional Services Division to conduct this crucial, thorough audit,” GLI Professional Services Director Gregory Doucette said. “Since creating the Professional Services Division in 2011, we have carefully assembled a staff consisting of the industry’s foremost leading experts, and the California Lottery, like our other clients, can choose GLI, confident that their projects are carried out by the industry’s best.”
The WLA-SCS is the lottery sector’s only internationally recognized security standard. The WLA-SCS combines a leading international standard for information security, ISO 27001, with current best practices in lottery security. WLA-SCS-certified auditors at GLI’s Professional Services Division conducted the California Lottery audit.
“The California Lottery spent the better part of one year preparing the material to earn these certifications,” said Acting Director Paula LaBrie. “We consider this a great success and an important business milestone for our organization. GLI’s Professional Services team helped us complete the necessary requirements for certification, and we appreciate their effective and professional skills needed to achieve this goal.”
GLI’s Professional Services Division has four main areas of services, each specifically designed to make doing business in the lottery industry faster and more effective: Project Management; Governance, Risk and Compliance, including World Lottery Association Security Control Standards (WLASCS) and ISO 27001 Information Security audit and certification; GLI University Training; and Technical Services.
GLI’s Professional Services division has consulted with lotteries on a wide range of topics spanning the complete spectrum of the lottery industry, from security assessments to project management, IT strategy and implementation and WLA and ISO standards.
GLI is a member of WLA, NASPL, CIBELAE and the European Lotteries.
In other GLI news, James Maida, the company’s founder and CEO, has pledged an increased focus on Asia in the near future. In an interview with the GGRAsia website, Maida named Asia, along with South America, as a target for increased business.
“We see growth throughout Asia,” Maida told the website. “We think South America and Asia are the two largest growth areas right now in the world. You will see us open a few more offices in Asia over the next five years.”
