One of the most important developments in the gaming industry over the past 20 years has been the establishment of the National Center for Responsible Gaming, an organization that does original and independent research into the field of problem and pathological gambling. Alan Feldman, the chairman of the NCRG and also a senior vice president of public affairs for MGM Resorts, explains why it is so important to the industry, the early days of research and the groundbreaking treatment programs the NCRG is spearheading to assist people who suffer from the disease. He also discusses the people who made a difference and why the independence of the organization is so crucial. He spoke with GGB Publisher Roger Gros in January for an article on the NCRG in the February edition of the magazine.
