Boyd Gaming’s history stretches back to at least 1975, but even predates that. Sam Boyd, the company’s patriarch, and his son, Bill, put together an unlikely collection of properties that formed the core of Boyd Gaming. Kings of the local Las Vegas market, Boyd ventured out into middle America in the mid-1990s, created brands and casinos that are truly beloved. Boyd’s Borgata is the market leader in the struggling Atlantic City market, and the company continued its acquisitions just two years ago when buying Peninsula Gaming in Iowa. Bill Boyd sat down with GGB Publisher Roger Gros at his offices last month to discuss the history of his company, as well as his impressions of where the gaming industry is headed. The interview was conducted for the cover story of the March issue of GGB, available now.
